Mrs. Robin Ballarin
We have about three weeks left in this school year and want ALL students to end the year with the very best grades they can. Tutorials remain available. If you have any questions or concerns about your student, please continue to talk with their teacher(s) first--this is the best line of communication. Please remember student grades and attendance is available online in the parent and student portal in Infinite Campus. If you have any problem with the portal, you may call West Hills at 956-0400 during normal business hours, 7:00-3:30 p.m. or our District Technology Help line 619-956-4357.

Monday, May 28 we have no school. Thank you to all our military service members and their families, active, reserve and  retired, who have served our country. We so appreciate you and your service!

GRADES / CREDITS / SUMMER SCHOOL: Please review GRADES online in our Parent Portal. There is still time for students and parents to talk with teaches and improve grades if needed.  Any student with an "F" at the semester's end or on their transcript does need to re-take the course for credit. A student needs 220 credits to graduate. These credit requirements are on our website under "Counseling". Summer School will be offered June 11-June 29, 7:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. daily.  Students have already been enrolled in summer school and know through their Counselor what course they are enrolled in. Please look in your email and Infinite Campus portal for more information in the next few weeks as we send out reminders and messages. Any student who is a current Senior (needing only one course to graduate), or a junior going into Senior year have priority in summer school due to limited space. Current Sophomores and Freshman have been scheduled as well as space allows.  Please do not plan to have your student miss any of the 15 days of summer school. There are so few days--each summer school day is equal to one week of a traditional semester.

Image result for school nurse A  friendly reminder from our school nurse, Mrs. Lori Farra...please pick up any medications that your student has in the Nurses' office by the last day of school. We want you and your student to have their medications over summer.

On Saturday April 28, the San Diego Shakespeare Society's Student Shakespeare Festival was held  outside in Balboa Park on four outdoor stages. They all performed monologues and scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream.  Also, we had students tech the entire even which included being there from 8am to 5pm and dealing with students, parents, and teachers. The tech students were Christina Keegan, Ali Loeza, Vivi Landeros, Derek Schmitten, Natalie Wood, Lorelei Howe, Carson Holden, Emma Spencer, Destiny Wolf-Gonzales and Jonelle Claar.  Below is a picture of the crew students and the actors that competed. Way to go West Hills!

Project Lead the Way Engineering Students (PLTW) at SDSU

PLTW students enjoyed a day at the SDSU Department of Engineering. The professor really spent time with our students talking to them about the MRI machine. He was having them take a screwdriver into the machine to experience the pull of a magnetic field. Then we were shown two different types of wind tunnels that students at SDSU have access to to run experiments. They are so loud, and move so much air, that they are only allowed to be run on the weekends. The friction from the air is enough to heat up the whole building. There is also a shot of our students in front of the Rocket Project club which designs and builds rockets, takes them to the Mojave desert and launches them. Students enjoyed learning more about Aerospace Engineering, the resources at SDSU, and getting a look at hands on experiments.

ATHLETICS: If you have a student athlete, they must complete the athletics clearance process done online in order to participate. Please check our website for full information. Note: A student must have a medical physical clearance for all participation in athletics, cheer,  Marching Band and Color Guard. It is good for one year from the date submitted. The ideal time to have that physical is NOW so that you won't need to do one in the middle of the year (again) for a new sport season.

Thank you for your support. Go Wolf Pack!
